Niantic Studio: Audio not working properly in iPhone Safari

I’d also like to know the cause and solution for this issue. If you find out anything, I’d appreciate it if you could share it!

After testing, it looks like the issue occurs because the audio file is being assigned to the current entity ID instead of creating a new entity for each sound effect. This causes the current entity to wait until the audio finishes before another one can play.

I’ve put together a guide showing the correct way to handle audio playback:

Thank you for conducting the test. I’ve implemented the changes as per the guide you shared, but it seems that the audio delay and quality degradation have not been resolved on iPhone. Could you kindly review the project again?

It has been some time, but how is it going? If the issue cannot be resolved, the game won’t function properly. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I would appreciate your cooperation.

@GeorgeButler
I’m also concerned about this issue.

Having sound play normally without delay in iPhone is an essential requirement when using Niantic Studio.

I maked a simple sample project using the two code snippets from here ( Audio | 8th Wall ).

The following two issues are still occurring:

・Audio does not play correctly (play muffled)

・Audio plays with delay

Should I give up on using ecs.audio?

Thanks for sharing this, I’ve been looking into this issue with the engineering team to uncover a solution here.

@GeorgeButler

I apologize for rushing, but due to the production project, could you please let me know if there is any possibility of improvement by 9/16?

The team is stretched pretty thin across multiple different projects right now, I would say it’s unlikely but it is something we’re taking seriously.

@GeorgeButler

Sorry for causing you trouble in a busy situation, but I would be very grateful if you could investigate this issue. I humbly ask for your cooperation.

@GeorgeButler

My project is scheduled for release in December, and we need to have it checked by the client before then. Audio plays a crucial role in this process, and the timeline for resolving audio issues will have a significant impact on the project schedule. Therefore, I would like to request that the investigation be expedited. Once the investigation is underway, could you please provide an estimated timeline for when the improvements can be completed?

@GeorgeButler

Is the progress of the investigation advancing? It seems there is no prospect for improvement, and because the schedule will not be met, the game to be released in December will be redone with 8thwall (A-Frame). Ideally, it would have been developed with Studio, but it is very unfortunate. However, there is another project where a game using audio is being developed with Studio, but if the current situation continues, it will also need to be redone with A-Frame, so I request urgent improvements. Regarding audio, I believe there will be voices from others asking for improvements as well, so please make improvements.
