I want to use 8th Wall Studio with my students, but l keep getting this error: A Dev Token is required to view this page. Visit 8th Wall Console to authorize your device.
I just get taken back to the main 8th wall page. I’ve searched everywhere and tried everything I can think of (deleting browser saved files, etc.).
Different projects work on the device, and other devices can use the “broken” project. I know it has something to with a project-per-device token, but have no idea how to fix it.
Also, when I use Live View, I can load the project, but without AR, and it’s an older version (I have built, landed and published the project).
If I can’t fix this, it means I can’t risk using 8th Wall with students, who will likely get the same problem at some point, and I’ll have to fall back to Unity.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT: I’ll leave this up in case anyone else has the same problem. It works now. I had my Chrome Camera settings at “Allow while using app”, which I figured should allow access. I changed to “Ask every time”, and now it asks for the camera every time and works. Chat GPT says it’s a known but illogical permissions “quirk” on Android. I guess I didn’t hit that one before. All three of my devices are now working, with the same fix.
From Chat GPT: Android and Chrome keep a record, or cache, of which permissions have been granted. Sometimes, this record can become corrupted or fail to update correctly after a software update or if the app crashes. Chrome thought it didn’t have permission, and the operating system thought it did, creating a deadlock. By changing the setting to “Ask every time,” you forced the system to delete the old, stale record and re-evaluate the permission from scratch, which resolved the conflict.
The dev token likely wasn’t the main issue, since visiting 8thwall.com seems to re-authorise the device automatically.
