Shaking objects

Hello,

I have a scene with planes and UI buttons, I did some tests a few weeks ago and since last week, the objects shakes a lot more and don’t stay in place. I wanted to test with the cloud editor, because for some tests it was more stable than in studio, but by just cloning the world effect project the cube shakes a lot too on my phone and on the simulator.

Is there a way to have stable elements?
There is an old post here with the same problem but it was because the 3d objects were too big which is not the case here.

Thank you.

Could you provide a video of the issue you’re seeing? If I had to guess I would think it’s because it can’t track well for the following reasons:

  • Repetitive patterns on the camera feed
  • Reflective surfaces

Here’s the swisstransfer for my videos

Video0 was shot last week, the project was build with the absolute scale template and the video was shot on approximatively the place the ar experience should be done.

Then I removed the absolute scale element to have just the scene appears when the ar starts. (I can’t use vps for this project and everything is too far anyway to do a proper scan and to position the scene properly).

Video1 was shot yesterday, I put my phone against an object so it would be still and my shaking hands wouldn’t interfere with the shaking 3d scene.
Video2 was shot today, it’s more stable but still has some part when it shakes more than the usual wobbling when I step back.

It looks like it’s quite random actually and it’s the same on the simulator with the different world locations for tests, not just my phone.

Thanks for the videos! Looking at it closer it seems like it might be related to tracking but rather something else. Can you land your changes and share the project with the support workspace so I can take a look?

Hi!

Coming back to this conversation because the problem reappared recently.

I don’t have this issue anymore on my phone (iPhone SE 2022 on Safari) but my client sent me a video with the elements shaking a lot (Samsung Galaxy A15 with last updates of the OS and Chrome) but still kind of staying at their place. My colleagues who also have Samsung phones don’t experience this issue.

I shared the projet with the support in July but since I didn’t notify you here I didn’t have any response (my fault). Now the official project is on a new account but it follows the same pattern of the one already shared, but should I share the official one instead?

Thank you.

I’ve seen similar shaking on devices with less robust IMUs. If you’re using Image Targets, sometimes adding more ‘features’ to the target helps, but if it’s World Tracking, it might just be the A15’s camera struggling with the SLAM. Re-sharing the official project is probably the best move so they can look at the latest logs.
