Tap to place AR models keep shrinking

Hi,
I am using the Aframe World Effects template with the tap-to-place function. As the app runs, the placed models significantly reduce in size. They are designed to float off the ground but after 10-15 seconds of placing objects they become tiny and drift around.

Eg.

Any suggestions would be awesome.
Thanks!

Hi, welcome to the forums!

Can you show a video of the behavior and share your project with the support workspace so I can take a look?

Sorry, having trouble sharing a video, but here it is: Sign Archive testing
I have also shared the project with support.

Thanks for sharing, I’ve taken a look. Really cool project! I’m not able to reproduce the shrinking bug however I have a suspicion it’s related to performance.

Take a look at my reply on this thread here, and follow the steps regarding gltf.report to see if that helps.

Hi George, thanks for this. I’ve optimised some of the models and done a test (and am in the process of doing the rest), but unfortunately it hasn’t fixed the shrinking/drifting problem. The app is published but geolocated, but I could add a location for you to test if that helps…
And thanks! Yes, I made the models using images contributed to the project here:

It’s being reactivated for Climate Action Week next week and very excited to get it working in webAR. Thanks for your help!

I forced the geofence function to return true so I could test it. Here’s a video of me testing it on my device. I’m not seeing any issues with drifting or scaling. It could be that where your camera is facing doesn’t have enough unique markers to track very well.

Okay, good to know. Thank you for testing it!

Hi again George, after doing some more testing I think I understand the problem. When I first open the app it scales correctly but as I move around, it continues to place the signs scaled to the original location it was opened. So as I move further away from that first location, they become smaller. Does that make sense, and is there a way to change this behaviour?
Thanks again for your help.
