Can markerless tracking use a marker to initially place assets and assist in continuous tracking

Hi, I’m wondering about a potential situation. Can you have a markerless AR experience that operates without any marker but can be initiated by a marker? In the case of the user orienting their device with the marker in view, the tracking is ‘refreshed’ for a lack of better word, but otherwise the experience behaves as markerless allowing a user to point their device anywhere.
