Why vps scan mesh data and number of mesh are not equal to actual scanning data and scanning count?

:smiley:Hi, I am fan of 8thWall VPS, I have question doing recent VPS scanning of my local point.

  1. My scanning structure is large so I do scan over 1 min but when i check the vps mesh on 8thWall geospatial browser, why the vps mesh created with only very small part of my entire scan? Most of the meshes are only cover less than 10% of my entire scanning.

  2. Once the vps is activated in scanniverse app, the activation is automatically updated after new scan data is added? In the old way with the wayfarer dev app, there was the re-activate button so after i add scan to the location i could update the state manually. But the recent scanniverse app, I can not find the button to update the activation for the newly added scan.

  3. If i add scan datas to location where the vps is already activated, When can i use the new meshes from newly updated scans? I added some new scan datas but can’t find newly added meshes on the 8thWall geospatial browsers.

4.I wonder if the vps recognition performance varies depending on the mesh I chose. Or I am wondering if it recognizes all the scan data together regardless of the mesh I chose.
Thanks for your help.

Hi!

  1. The Geospatial Browser only shows parts of the overall scans, which is why you’re seeing less than 10% of your full effort. But don’t worry—your entire scan is still being used. It combines with other users’ scans to build out the full mesh for that location.

  2. In Scaniverse, you can’t manually reactivate like you could in Wayfarer. But, you can still do this from the 8th Wall Geospatial Browser. Just go to your location, click “View Details,” and you’ll find the option to reactivate. That should integrate the new data from your recent scans.

  3. After adding new scans, they won’t immediately appear in the browser. You’ll need to follow the reactivation process, and even then, keep in mind that the displayed mesh is a combination of data from multiple users, not just your individual scans.

  4. The VPS system works with all the available scan data, so it doesn’t matter which mesh you select—it’s just for visual reference. All the scan data is used together for the best recognition performance.
