I am doing an AR project of a proposed structure at a site with multiple VPS locators. Within 10 ft/3 meters of primary VPS locator, everything works as expected. Beyond that range, the building geometry loses its orientation and swings wildly out of position. Similar results on ipad, iphone and an android phone. As there are multiple VPS locators in the vicinity, is it possible to reference them and collectively lock the oriention of the building? Or is there another bit of code to lock it in place? Thanks…
This sounds like expected behavior, Niantic VPS is designed for human-scale AR and scanned location should be no more than 10m in diameter.
Scanned VPS-activated locations should be no larger than a 10-meter diameter around the location. For example, a typical statue would work as a VPS-activated Location. An entire building, however, would not. One face or doorway/entrance into a building might work. We recommend sticking with smaller areas to start (e.g. a desk, statue, or mural).
If you need to augment structures from a distance (outside of that 10m limit) you can explore integrating other VPS designed specifically for larger structures like Immersal (though this will likely need to be done in three.js rather than in Studio).
Thanks, Evan.
I wasn’t aware of the size limitations prior to your mention.
